land marks

LandMarks is a collection of black and white photographs and an essay exploring the relationship between place, history and identity in changing landscapes.

Photographs depict woodland, heathland and waterways of East Suffolk, concentrating on landscapes shaped by residual interventions such as footpaths, altered ground, abandoned or repurposed structures alongside contemporary infrastructure works.

Creating a rural psychogeography, the work focuses on traces in the landscape that enable us to read the environment as a layered historical record. In this context, images highlight both past and present human action, reflecting on our shifting relationship with land and the natural environment, while responding to urgent questions of access, environmental loss and infrastructural expansion.
