Gorse (Ulex europaeus)

Gorse, Ulex europaeus, native to Britain, grows wild along the heath and beaches, historically used for firewood, defensive barriers, paint making and fabric dyeing.

Large Scale (A2) Polymer Photogravure print. This is the first of the large scale prints that I have created. The tonal range and textural depth of the prints echos the landscape.

stories through the lens

For me images are a language. They communicate ideas, emotions and narratives through form, composition and texture.

The physical form of an image output - whether in print, zine or book - is integral to its impact.
The way each image is printed adds an additional dimension to the language of photography, enhancing its materiality and depth while refining light, tone and detail. Printmaking transforms images into intentional, crafted, unique objects, far beyond mere reproductions.

A photograph, once just an an image, becomes an experience. Through ink, paper, and manual process, printing elevates its impact, making visual communication as rich and nuanced as written language.
